Parents' responsibilities | ||
According to the Secondary FSL Curriculum: - Read the curriculum, so you know how your child is progressing each year - Attend Parent-Teacher interviews - Participating in parent workshops - Becoming involved in school council activities -Encourage and monitor homework or project completion | ||
According to the Elementary FSL Curriculum: - Everything listed for Secondary students - Primary educator in values, appropriate behavior, and cultural, spiritual, and personal beliefs and traditions | ||
According to Growing Success: - Read and follow up on Report cards - Establish regular communication with teachers | ||
Other Strategies: | ||
- read aloud to their children either in their first language or in French | ||
- join a local group to meet other parents and to find
out about French resources and cultural opportunities in the community. For example: Canadian Parents for French | ||
- provide a language-rich environment in the home | ||
